Oysters That Aren’t Gonna Shuck Themselves

Hood Canal is renowned for its shellfish and fishing opportunities. Depending on current regulations and conditions, guests may observe or enjoy clamming, oyster harvesting, crabbing, and fishing in the surrounding waters. As of May 2025, shellfish harvesting on Blue Heron Beach is restricted to Blue Heron owners only.  Blue Heron does welcome the Skokomish Tribe to exercise their shellfish harvest treaty right, in accordance with regulations.  For more information about current fishing regulations:

A Place Rich in History and Creativity

Blue Heron is more than a beautiful destination. It is part of a unique chapter in Hood Canal’s cultural history. Formerly known as Olympus Manor, the property was owned by artist and entrepreneur Orre Nobles and became a gathering place for artists, writers, musicians, and creative thinkers beginning in the 1920s. Long before Hood Canal became a popular vacation destination, this waterfront community was known as a vibrant artistic retreat where ideas and creativity flourished.  To learn more about this fascinating history:
